Section C. Upper Level Writing Requirement
- Each J.D. candidate who began law studies in or after August 2007 is required to enroll in and pass with a grade of C or better two (2) courses in Advanced Research and Writing.
- No student may enroll for more than 1 credit of Advanced Research and Writing in any one semester.
- Students who enroll in and receive a grade of S in Law Review, or enroll in and receive a grade of C or better in an Independent Study, Honors Independent Study or a course listed at registration as a Seminar will be deemed to have completed one (1) of the two required Advanced Research and Writing credits.
- Each J.D. candidate who began law studies before August 2007 must have earned five writing units, at least two of which include a research component. No writing units with a research component may be earned until the student has completed 30 credit hours of course work. To earn a writing unit, the student must achieve a grade of "satisfactory" or "honors" on the writing project.
