
Howard P. Fink is a Visiting Professor of Law. A research assistant and research associate at Yale Law School from 1958 to 1965, Professor Fink also served from 1961 to 1963 as Special Assistant to the Judicial Conference of the United States Advisory Committee on Rules of Evidence for the Federal Courts, drafting the Federal Rules of Evidence. He began teaching at Ohio State in 1965.
He is teaching Civil Procedure and the seminar in Law, History and Philosophy.
Since joining the Ohio State faculty in 1965, he has also been a visiting professor at the University of Illinois, the University of San Diego, the National Law Center at George Washington University, Emory University, Wake Forest University, Santa Clara University and Stetson Law Schools. For the spring semester, 2008, he is visiting professor at the University of Toledo.
Professor Fink helped develop and, for several summers, taught in the Ohio State-Oxford summer pre-law program at St. Anne's College, the University of Oxford, in England. He was Of Counsel to the law firm of Porter, Wright, Morris, and Arthur. He was co-chair of the Editorial Board of the Michie Co.
Professor Fink was a co-author of Moore's Federal Practice, 2nd ed. (1958-1978) He is co-author of Federal Jurisdiction: Policy and Practice(2d ed. 1987), Civil Procedure(2d ed. 1989), Ohio Rules of Civil Procedure with Commentary(1991-2006), and Federal Practice in the 21st Century(1996), 2nd ed. (2002), 3d ed. ( 2007). He also edits the Summary Guide to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (2008) .
He served on the Commission to Revise the Rules of the Ohio Supreme Court.
