Application for Certificate

REQUIREMENTS FOR A CERTIFICATE IN INTERNATIONAL LAW

To be eligible for a Certificate in Environmental Law, a student must satisfy all the requirements listed below.

A.   A student must complete all of the following International Law Core Courses:

1.	International Law
2.	Comparative Law
3.	International Business Transactions

B.   A student must complete at least five credits of the following International Law Related Courses:

1.	NAFTA Law
2.	European Union Law
3.	Immigration Law
4.	Admiralty Law
5.	International Intellectual Property Law
6.	International Environmental Law
7.	Cyberlaw
8.	Ecommerce
9.	College of Law externship placement dealing directly with International Law, subject to the advanced joint approval of the Director of the Externship Program and the Faculty Coordinator, for a maximum of three credits
10.	Advanced Topics/Seminar in International Law, subject to the advanced approval of the paper topic/project by the Faculty Coordinator, provided that an Advanced Topics/Seminar applied towards satisfaction of the International Law Related Course requirement may not be applied towards satisfaction of the Research and Writing Component in International Law
11.	Any other International Law course added to the curriculum on an experimental or permanent basis, if approved by the Dean for inclusion as a Related Course

C.   A student must complete one of the following Research and Writing Components:

1.	Advanced Topics/Seminar in International Law, subject to the advanced approval of the paper topic/project by the Faculty Coordinator, provided that an Advanced Topics/Seminar applied towards satisfaction of the Research and Writing Component in International Law may not be applied towards satisfaction of the International Law Related Course requirement
2.	Independent Research (with paper) in International Law, subject to the advanced approval of the paper topic/project by the Faculty Coordinator
3.	Service on the Law Review, including the submission of a final draft Note or Article on International Law for publication, if the Faculty Coordinator accepts the final draft of the Note or Article as sufficient in length and quality to be counted as completion of a Certificate Research and Writing Component
4.	Participation in Moot Court competition in International Law, if the Faculty Coordinator determines that the amount and quality of student's participation has been sufficient to be counted as completion of a Certificate Research and Writing Component

D.   A student must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in all International Law Core and Related Courses completed, except that a course graded only on a pass/fail basis shall not be included in the grade point average computation.
