Judicial Clerkship Application Information (ATTN. Rising 3L’s):  

 

May 30th DEADLINES:

§         If you plan to pursue a judicial clerkship during Fall 2008 send an e-mail to lcs@utoledo.edu and indicate “judicial clerkship” in the subject line.

§         This must be done NO LATER THAN May 30th.

§         You must also line up references (recommenders) by May 30th. This means, talk with professors and past supervisors about their willingness to offer a good recommendation for you. You can fill them in on details later but you must know who your recommenders will be prior to June 1st.

 

There will be a number of changes to the Federal Clerkship Application Process this year. The Federal Law Clerk Information System and the OSCAR system will be merged providing for a one-stop shop to locate available Federal Clerkships, view application preferences and upload documents. The OSCAR system updates will not go “live” until May 5th. Watch for more information about upcoming system deadlines.

Continuing Legal Education Opportunity:  Getting Past Deadlock

Please make plans to attend a CLE entitled “Getting Past Deadlock” on Friday May 30th from 8:45 – 12:30 at the College of Law.  This CLE, co-sponsored by the College of Law, Toledo Bar Association, and The Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, will focus on mediation/negotiation training on the difficult subject of getting past deadlock.  This event will provide a wonderful forum to interact with members of the local bar, while also learning vital negotiation skills.

Responsibilities:

·          Acts as the liaison between the sales team and corporate legal department ensuring that all legal and contractual matters are addressed efficiently and promptly.

·          Provide cradle to-grave contract administration. Responsible for coordination with internal groups and customers.

·          Respond to contract inquiries both internally and externally and handle all contract issue resolution. Maintain in-depth familiarity with the details of each contract.

·          Ensure compliance with company wide contracts policies, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements.

·          Provide accurate advisory interpretation of contract terms and conditions to internal management personnel.

·          Participate in all aspects of contract administration excluding litigation.

 

Requirements: Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate complex legal documents. Decisiveness and problem solving skills. Fundamental understanding of contract-law concepts, and basic knowledge of the practices, procedures, and processes of contracts administration.  Excellent communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Customer focus, interpersonal savvy, oral and written communication skills.  Priority setting, organization, and time-management skills.  Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Intermediate level proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
