Join us for this free seminar designed for engineers and lawyers. Legal smarts for today’s inventor: the IP basics of trade secrets, trademarks, patents and copyrights. The do’s and don’ts of recordkeeping, disclosures, patent counsel, understanding prior art and what the invention truly is, who’s an inventor and why it’s important, and why you shouldn’t include the boss.

 Toledo Bar Association (TBA) and College of Law provide Mentoring Opportunities for 1Ls: Several Spots Still Available

 

This professional mentoring opportunity will be made available to 25 first-year day or evening law students.  Students will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.  Matching of students to mentors will be done randomly. To receive a mentor and participate in this program, interested students must agree to all activities related to the program.

They are as follows:

     January  15 ,2008 – Opening Reception – UT College of Law

     Minimum of one mentor/mentee meeting each month

     Minimum of one two hour shadowing opportunity

     April 4, 2008 – Closing Luncheon – Toledo Bar Association

Toledo Bar Association (TBA) 1L Minority Recruitment  Program-

 

The TBA will sponsor a Minority Clerkship Program in which first year minority law school

students will have the opportunity to work as a summer associate in a local law firm, corporate legal

department, court or public sector position. The program is open to first year law students at the University   of Toledo and law students who are Toledo, Ohio residents but attend law school out of the area.

The 20th Annual Midwest Public Interest Law Career Conference

is scheduled for

in Chicago at Northwestern University School of Law

Description:

Deadline is November 30, 2007. The Cleveland Clinic’s Office of General Counsel has administered a summer law student clerkship program since 1997 for 1st and 2nd year law students. Students have an opportunity to work with health care attorneys on a wide variety of maters that affect the legal interests of this international health referral center. The Clinic is now accepting applications for its 2008 Summer Associate Program. The attorneys practice law in a wide variety of practice areas, including medical malpractice, risk management, hospital law, clinical research, medical education, commercial transactions, real property, tax-example organizations, fraud and abuse, managed care contracting, conflicts of interest, labor and employment, and corporate compliance. This will be hands-on activities in all of the major areas of practice. The clerks are given the opportunity to attend various hospital committee meetings and are also required to participate in ½ day internships in the Ombudsman Department, Media Relations, Medical Records, CCF Innovations and the operating room. Special consideration will be given to 2nd year law students and those law students who demonstrate an interest in pursing a career in the health care field. Submit a resume and brief writing sample. Some indication of the candidate’s academic performance should be included in the resume or otherwise, e.g., GPA and class ranking. Deadline is November 30, 2007.
